Who organises the Week of Taste?
The Flemish government initiated the Week of Taste and supports the event. The Week of Taste is coordinated by FARO. Flemish interface centre for cultural heritage.
Each year, a different godfather supervises the Week of Taste. The 2010 godfather of the Week of Taste is Wouter Keersmaekers, chef of restaurant ‘De Schone van Boskoop’ in Boechout.
Why is the Week of Taste organised?
The Week of Taste wants to introduce as many people as possible to ‘taste’ and allow them to enjoy all things related to eating, drinking and gastronomy. The event has a strong cultural perspective: it doesn’t solely devote attention to food products, but also to heritage, stories and academic studies on food culture. Week of Taste cherishes cultural diversity and wants to offer youngsters and schools an opportunity to participate.
